A few days ago I returned from a five month cruise from Lake Ontario, down the St. Lawrence Seaway / river, around the Canadian Maritimes, Maine, New England, New York, up the Hudson River, and back home via the Erie Canal.
Off Halifax, Nova Scotia, I ran into dense fog and used the loud hailer in earnest. It was connected to my VHF R/T, an Icom M-601, which has an automatic fog horn function. The loud hailer blasted out a fog signal that was very reassuring in fog so thick the visibility was less than 50 yards.
The loud hailer withstood more than a few salt water dousings, rain, wind, sun, and all the other stuff that can be thrown at it by the ocean.
Thanks for a great product.
